Texas child care licensing recognizes it as a daycare administrator's credential which is one of the eligible paths to becoming an approved director of a child care center serving 13 or more children.
It can be used to train employees with an interest in center management in the future with no added cost to the center.
About the Program
ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI) and Frog Street Press, LLC (Frog Street) have established an unparalleled partnership to collectively impact child care administration and business practices training throughout the State of Texas.
The Texas Child Care Administration and Business Practices Certificate is a 100 clock hour hybrid program designed to provide professional information for early childhood professionals seeking to further their skills and knowledge in the management of a child care center. It is a comprehensive course related to child care business and administration, designed to strengthen business practices, and provide improved quality of child care services.
The program is broken into six online Instructional Units that focus on the core areas of competency required to effective administer and manage a child care center and two (2) face-to-face coaching sessions. These sessions are designed to allow participants to demonstrate practical application of the concepts learned throughout the program and each participant will culminate their learning with an executable Quality Improvement Plan that they can take back to their centers.
Who should take the program?
Child care management and staff who are employed and
recommended by Texas Rising Star (TRS) child care providers,
including but not limited to:
Other staff selected by the child care center director, for whom administrative, managerial, or supervisory duties comprise a minimum of 50% of their workload
Upon satisfactorily completing the
Texas Child Care Administration and
Business Practices Certificate program of study,
students will be able to:
Identify methods to create a positive and productive workplace;
Demonstrate the ability to develop leadership skills;
Identify methods to maintain a skilled, well-trained workforce;
Demonstrate advanced business administration and organizational skills specific to the child care industry;
Recognize indicators of quality care, including the TRS program indicators of effectiveness;
Identify methods to partner with parents to engage families in the early learning and
development of children
The Texas Child Care Administration and Business Practices Certificate satisfies Section 6 of Texas Administrative Code §746.1015 in that it is recognized by Texas Child Care Licensing as a day-care administrator's credential issued by a professional organization or educational institution and approved by Licensing based on criteria specified in Subchapter P of Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 745.
